Origami to Astonish and Amuse by Jeremy Shafer

This book is awesome!!! I am a beginner in the world of folding paper and when I saw how many complicated designs there were, I freaked out. Normally books with advanced folding do not stop to explain what all the origami terms mean and the diagrams are often hard to decipher. This book not only has very easy to read diagrams, it also takes the time to explain what each origami term means and even some modern history of origami as well as the author's commentary on each piece. This book is perfect for beginners and expert origami folders alike. The book starts out simple and gets more complex as you get deeper into the book. Each origami piece is interesting and it is clear that Mr. Jeremy Shafer spent a lot of time and effort to make each diagram clear and simple, which is much appreciated. The best part about this book is that each and every design is fun to fold and fun to show off to your friends. A few of my friends favorites included the Nail Clippers, the Slithering Snake Skin, the Swiss Army Knife, the Dragon, and, my personal favorite, the Unopenable Envelope. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in origami and has plenty of patience, because the odds are that the first time you fold something it won't come out perfect. I give this book a rating of five stars for Mr. Jeremy Shafer's ingenuity, creativity, and thoughtfulness towards the beginning folder.

Apologies

I have to apologize to everyone. I have not been keeping up with my blog recently. I just recently had a few very trying semesters in school and have not gotten around to writing the reviews on many of the books I have received. Now that it is summer, I hope to finish what I started and finally post reviews on all the websites I have promised. In advance, I would like to thank all of you for your patience and understanding.

Getting a new book!!

Hello, my viewers! I have just received a notice from Goodreads.com that I will be acquiring a new book to read and review!!! It is a science fiction book called Lunar Dust, Martian Sands by Tom Chmielewski. This book sounds very interesting. Seems like a few government and corporate officials are getting greedy!!!

Melody Jackson and the House on Lafayette Street by B.M.B. Johnson

Ok, so maybe I lied. I finished the book this evening (I got a free electronic copy of this from the author who was giving them away randomly to people who had entered his free signed giveaway on Goodreads.com). I was sucked into the world and couldn't get out... Honestly, I was!!! Well this evening, or night, or morning, I am reviewing Melody Jackson and the House on Lafayette Street by B.M.B. Johnson. This book was fantastic! The diction was superb, I have never read a book meant for a young audience that has a plethora of perfect word choices. I am absolutely thrilled! The world and characters that Johnson creates are zany and quirky! Johnson takes a fresh, creative, and even hysterically comedic view of mythical, extraterrestrial, and paranormal life. The whole book is riddled with suspense, a little tragedy here and there, a bit of horror and terror, as well as humor in the worst situations. I find this book more than satisfactory, it is astonishing! I found the interaction between adults and children very satisfying. It is very hard to find a book these days that has a parent-child relationship as amiable as this one. Overall this book is taking the new and turning it upside-down, putting it in a blender and taking out a unique aproach to the world. Therefore, I give this book five stars! You can find more reviews at https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22441997-melody-jackson-and-the-house-on-lafayette-street?ac=1. I hope you find this review helpful in your consideration to read this book.

Hey!!! So pumped up XD!! Just received Origami to Astonish and Amuse: Over 400 Original Models, Including Such "Classics" as the Chocolate Covered Ant, the Transvestite Puppet, the Invisible Duck, and Many Many More! in the mail yesterday! Got the chance to glance through it last night, looks totally awesome! Cannot wait to try out some of the folding that is in there ^w^! Before I post a review I'll try folding all of the art in it. So the review may take a while, sorry about that!

Reading 'Melody Jackson and the House on Lafayette Street'

Two days ago I received an invitation from an author on Goodreads.com. I was told that B.M.B. Johnson, the author of Melody Jackson and the House on Lafayette Street, was giving random people electronic versions of his book in exchange for a review on goodreads in three weeks. I full on jumped at the chance of reading this book, mostly because I found the description very intriguing. I am now over two thirds done with this book, even though I do not like reading off of an electronic device (If I had printed it out my printer would have killed me in my sleep, T^T  not even mentioning what my wallet would have done). I will have finished this book by tomorrow and most probably post a review a few days after I finish. Honestly, I would LOVE to read and review more of B.M.B. Johnson's books or future books. I will be reading any other sequels to this particular book (As soon as they are available at the Library. I can't afford to buy any books at the moment TT^TT).
